Water Quality Improvements at Gerry Park – Roslyn, NY (2020-2021)

Posted in Civil Services

GBI worked alongside Cameron Engineering and the town of North Hempstead to provide water quality improvement to Gerry Park, formerly known as Roslyn Pond. GBI increased storage capacity in two ponds by dredging and removing over 3800 cubic yards of material. A precast concrete Vortech water treatment unit was installed to facilitate water flow through the pond and stream system. The project also included beautification efforts. GBI cleared away over two acres of invasive vegetation and installed a vast underdrain system to provide dry, open lawn areas for the community and access to previously hidden streams. Finally, repairs were performed on dilapidated sections of the masonry walls surrounding the ponds.
